Welcome to Mitch's Run

EVENT DETAILS:

If you have registered for the event, you may take the 8:00am ferry or the 9:00am ferry from Sayville to Sailors Haven/Sunken Forest. The 8:00am ferry will be for “Mitch’s Run” participants only, while the 9:00am ferry will be open to all Sayville Ferry customers and therefore may be very crowded. To ensure a space on the ferry, we would strongly encourage you to register for the event prior to July 19th. However, a limited number of participants will be able to register the morning of the event, if necessary.

Please be sure to check the website the morning of July 19, 2008 in the event we need to postpone “Mitch’s Run” due to SEVERE inclement weather. Should you have any questions the morning of July 19, 2008, please call Lori at (631)-921-0877.

Please be aware that parking is very limited near the Sayville Ferry Terminal. If possible, please consider carpooling. There is a parking lot directly across from the Sailors Haven/Sunken Forest Terminal, which charges $10.00 per day, but fills up quickly. In addition, you may park on cross streets in Sayville where there are no signs prohibiting parking. Parking is also available at the Sayville Train Station, from which Colonial Taxi runs shuttle buses to and from the ferry for a fee. Colonial Taxi plans to have extra taxis and shuttle buses at the Sayville Train Station for the event. The phone number for Colonial Taxi is (631)-589-3500, should you need to call.

Water bottles, T-Shirts, and ferry tickets will be given out prior to boarding the ferry at the Sayville Ferry Terminal. At the entrance to the Sailors Haven/Sunken Forest Ferry Terminal, please check-in at the table and pick up your supplies. If you are not planning to take the ferry, please pick up your T-Shirt and water bottle on the bay side of Sailors Haven.

We will be meeting on the bay side of Sailors Haven at 10:00am. There will be a canopy and banner on the east side near the concession stand.

Even though Mitch's run was from lifeguard stand to lifeguard stand on the ocean side, please feel free to run or walk on the beach, through Sunken Forest, or through the berm.

We will be meeting after the run/walk on the bay side at approximately 12:00pm for raffles.

After the raffles, please feel free to spend the day at the beach or enjoy the Sunken Forest. There is a concession stand, bathrooms, and showers for your convenience. We encourage you to bring beach chairs and coolers. Live music will be performed by Jahstix Davidson from 1:00pm – 5:00pm on the bay side. Return ferry tickets will be honored at any time on July 19, 2008 on any Sayville Ferry. Ferries will leave Sailors Haven/Sunken Forest and return to Sayville at 1:45pm, 2:45pm, 4:15pm, 5:30pm, and 6:40pm.
